Future CTBTO inspectors from 52 countries practiced at Lešť
The practical part of the 3rd cycle of Introductory Training Course took place in the premises of Training Center Lešť (hereinafter “TC”) in the period from 23rd to 27th October 2016. The course, organized by Preparatory Commission of The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization, had a several main objectives such as realization and accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the training (basic skills in map reading and equipment handling, familiarizing with logistical issues and decontamination point procedures).
The course started with Security briefing provided by TC members (TC general info included). Within on job training participants took opportunity to do practice in logistic operation such as material handling, build up tent, preparation of operation of various scenarios and following SOP (detection, communication and navigation equipment, as well as report procedures). Gained knowledge they found very useful during final exercise. The course culminated by the briefings when filed teams individually presented their final exercise outputs and outcomes.
Totally 73 participants from 52 countries nationalities over the world, 18 CTBTO facilitators and external experts including 11 members of the Slovak Armed Forces participated in the course and severe weather also tested their readiness and resistance. All of them were astonished by the complexity of the Training Centre´s capabilities and possibilities. The CTBTO representatives expressed the wish to come back to Lešť during ongoing 5 year training cycle.
The TC Lešť provided with an appropriate infrastructure and training facilities which met the required standard for the realization and accomplishment of the main goals.
